The 7 Universal Laws – And How to Use Them

Welcome to Your Personal Guide to the 7 Universal Laws.

The Universal Laws or Universal Principals govern everything in the universe. They exist, whether you’re aware of them or not; much like the Law of Gravity pulled everything to the ground long before you knew it had a name. Understanding them and how they can work for you will take you far in this life. It’s like knowing the rules of the game. It’s easier to play along and enjoy instead of stumbling around trying to make sense of it all. Some of these you may be familiar with, and some you may have never heard of before.

So what are these Universal Laws?

7 Natural Universal Laws

1) The Law of Mentalism

“The All is Mind – The Universe is Mental.” Everything we see and experience in our physical world has its origin in the invisible, mental world. There is one single Universal Consciousness – the Universal Mind – from which all things manifest.

Your reality is a manifestation of your mind; of your thoughts, emotions and beliefs. Thoughts lead to the manifestation of things and events. Thoughts create our state of existence and the quality of our experience here on Earth. Therefor, be responsible for your life by being responsible for your thoughts and beliefs.

This is also known as the Law of Divine Oneness. Everything is connected to everything else. Everything is created from one divine source, making everything one with that divine source. Every person, animal, plant, even the dirt under our feet is all connected. The thoughts that create your reality also affect the universe around you.

How to use it:

Your perception is your reality. You cannot view the world from someone else’s point of view. The way you perceive your life is entirely based off of your unique set of experiences, your ‘truths’, your emotions and beliefs. To be able to harness the power of this law and use it in your favor, you need to be crystal clear on what it is you want from this life, and I mean crystal. Where will you live? What does it look like? Who is around you? What are you doing to pass the time? It’s time to start doing some soul searching and ask yourself some big questions. To have this ‘dream’ life you have to be able to envision it, to feel it. Be mindful of your thoughts and emotional responses to life. Evaluate what is and isn’t working for you and/or pushing you toward or keeping you from your dreams.

2) The Law of Correspondence

As above, so below. As within, so without. What exists in the invisible, exists in the visible. What you feel and believe inside, will manifest on the outside. If you want to change what’s outside of yourself, turn your focus inward. Remember, we are all connected. Focusing on what is for your greatest good, will bring good to the universe and those around you. Bringing good to those around you will bring good back to you.

How to use it:

This builds off of how to use the Law of Mentalism. If we really want to see change in our outer world, we must first change our inner world – our thoughts, beliefs and attitudes. It’s one thing to imagine this perfect life for yourself but if you don’t believe it’s attainable or don’t believe you deserve it, then those beliefs will continue to make your reality – one of lack. Dig through your beliefs, both positive and negative. If you find some that don’t align with your desires and goals, then it’s time to reevaluate. Do some research and find the ‘truths’ that will propel you toward your ideal future. A negative mind cannot create a positive future.

 3) The Law of Vibration

Everything is in motion. Nothing in the universe, seen or unseen, remains still. Everything vibrates. At the most fundamental level, the universe and everything that comprises it is pure vibratory energy. All energy, even thought and emotion, is vibrating at varying speeds or frequencies. Vibrations with similar frequencies resonate with each other.

You can alter your own vibration to align with what you want more of in your life. This goes beyond simply wishing for something. Your conscious thoughts, subconscious beliefs, and your emotions each have their own vibrational frequency. Your thoughts and any unspoken beliefs must align with your desired outcome.

Say, for example, you want to be rich. Only, you don’t really believe you deserve to be rich. You’re scared that money is difficult to come by or that you’ll have to overextend yourself to become rich. Your vibration is telling the universe that you don’t deserve to have money. You’re not ready to be rich. You’d like to have it ‘someday’, but not now. This vibration will bring scarcity, financial burden, an unexpected expense. Remember, as within, so without.

How to use it:

Again, expanding on the Law of Correspondence, your beliefs and the emotional ties to these beliefs have to align with your desires. Most of the things we want in our life, we want for the emotional response we expect it to give us. The most common desires are love and financial abundance. We want to feel safe and secure. To love and feel loved. We want to be desired and to find joy in those moments. Find the root emotions that you’re searching for and find a way to feel them without having the conditions you expect to bring them. You can fee love right now. You can feel secure right now. You can even feel wealthy and abundant, regardless of what your checking account says. Align your vibrations with those that you want to attract more of. The stronger those emotions, the quicker the magnetic effect.

4) The Law of Polarity

Also known as the Law of Duality. Everything has its opposite. Opposites are identical in nature but different in degree. Everything is and isn’t at the same time. Everything has two opposing points but they are only extremes of the same thing, with many varying degrees between them.

Take for example, hot and cold. These are both extremes of a measure of temperature. When looking at a thermometer, there’s no place where hot ends and cold begins, or vice versa. Just varying degrees between the two extreme poles. Or how about light and dark? Where does darkness end and light begin? Is there a dividing line between large and small? Hard and soft? Sharp and dull? The law of polarity explains these paradoxes. Both extremes exist as part of the same.

It is possible to change the vibration of hate to the vibration of love. Hate and Love are the same as much as they are opposites. Or Anger and Joy. Even Good and Evil. This sort of ‘mental alchemy’ can take time to master, but understanding and accepting the duality of all things, makes this easier.

How to use it:

Ever heard of finding the silver linings in a bad situation? That is where the Law of Polarity comes into play. You can choose to feel the polar opposite emotion in a bad situation by choosing to find those silver linings. For every reason that you feel sad, there is going to be a reason to also be happy. When you can view life from this perspective, both your life and your emotions become more balanced. Look for the good in what seems like a bad situation. Understand that failure is only a lesson. You’re certainly allowed to feel sad or angry, even defeated, but don’t allow those feelings to linger and fester in your life.

 5) The Law of Rhythm

Everything ebbs and flows, everything has its tides. All things rise and fall. The pendulum swing manifests in everything. In case you haven’t noticed, the universal laws all work together. In everything manifested, there is a measured motion; a pendulum-like movement between the two poles which exist in accordance with the Law of Polarity. There is always an action and reaction, an advance and retreat, a rising and sinking. This is so in all affairs of the universe.

The key to this principle, is learning how to use it instead of being used by it. Knowing that every up has its incoming down will help you to better prepare for it. The ebb and flow is a natural dance that cannot be stopped or altered, but you can learn to ‘go with the flow’ and not allow the change to affect you in a negative way.

How to use it:

This is one of the easier ones to use in theory, as all it requires of you is that you understand it. The practice becomes a bit more difficult and requires a conscious effort to practice it. The key here, is to not let your emotions swing too far to one side or the other. To expect that life will swing from a good point to a bad one and to simply be okay with riding the wave. Remember that if your life has swung into a bad point, it HAS to swing back to a good one. Just keep on trucking. Even the darkest night breaks way to morning light.

 6) The Law of Cause and Effect

Every cause has its effect. Every effect has its cause. Everything happens according to law. Nothing ‘just happens’. This cause and effect exists over various planes. The cause may occur on a higher plane and effect those on a lower plane. Those who understand the universal laws are more likely to be the Causers, instead of constantly being Effected by life.

In general, the masses are carried along, obedient to their environment, suggestion and other outward causes moving them about like pawns on the chessboard of life. Those who can dominate their moods, characters, qualities and power, as well as understand how to affect the environment around them, become movers instead of pawns.

How to use it:

Look around you. Look at your life. What you see is the direct result of specific actions and/or inactions that you’ve taken in your life. Determine the Cause & Effect relationships in the areas in which you want more success. In other words, if you want a specific result in your life, identify the specific things you will need to do in order to get the results that you want. You need to have a proper understanding of yourself and how you work as a person and a good knowledge of your belief systems. Then, start taking action! Line up all those causes with the knowledge that the effects will follow.

7) The Law of Gender

There is gender manifested in everything – masculine and feminine principles always at work. This is true not only on the physical plane but on the mental and spiritual planes as well. No creation, physical, mental or spiritual is possible without this principle.

Mental gender is the state of coexistence between the masculine and feminine aspects of the mind. Our left brain hemisphere largely facilitates masculine aspects such as logic, analytical and linear thought, while the right brain facilitates the feminine aspects such as creativity, compassion and holistic thought. The masculine aspect is seen as our Intellect, while the feminine our Intuition.

The Principle of Gender works ever in the direction of generation, regeneration, and creation. Everything, and every person, contains the two elements or aspects within it, him or her. The feminine and masculine are meant to be two parts of one whole.

How to use it:

The key to this one is finding the balance of the yin and yang within yourself and in everything you do. Everyone has masculine and feminine qualities and the universe will always try to find a balance. If your ego (masculine) outweighs your emotional (feminine) qualities, then life will be a bit more of a struggle than is necessary. This requires a lot of soul searching and understanding of yourself, your thoughts, beliefs and actions and pinpointing areas that need to be more balanced.

What it all means

as you may have noticed, all seven universal laws work together, if not because of each other. They are separate points of explanation of one larger picture. Understanding one is beneficial but understanding all will give you a glimpse at the overall bigger picture. Working within the laws, instead of against them, or allowing them to simply happen around you, will give you control over your own life and your own happiness.

None of this is easy, mind you. The path to mastering these laws and one’s own mind is a tedious one of self-discovery and trial and error. This life, however, is the only one you have (that you’ll remember at least) so it makes sense to invest your time and energy into molding it into what you desire.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on these 7 principles. Do you have any experience with any of the above?
